- Pre-shredded cheese blends

Ingredients
Method
- Cook ground meat over medium‑high heat until no longer pink. Drain excess fat for a cleaner, lighter sauce. Add salt, pepper, and your preferred seasoning (if using). Stir in tomato sauce and water or broth. Simmer for 8 minutes to thicken and deepen the flavour
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Use a 9×9 inch baking pan to start the layers.
- Bottom layer: Spread just the sauce to prevent sticking, followed by three sheets of oven-ready lasagna. Next, spread a spoonful of meat sauce over the sheets, then half a cup cheese on top. Repeat this three more times to get a four layered lasagna topped with cheese.
- Optional: You may add any pizza toppings along with the top layer of cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden and bubbling. Rest 10 minutes before slicing for clean cut layers or scoop it up, fill a bowl, and enjoy it hot.
- Garnishing: Go for sliced olives on top with parmesan cheese or for a Sri Lankan flavour add chopped pearl onions and Thai green chilies.

Ways to Enjoy
- Plating: Slice a thick piece of lasagna and place it on a bowl or a plate. Scoop a spoonful of leftover meat sauce (if any) to pour over the lasagna, extra chees and/or fried onions on top for a rich cheesy finish.
- Fresh salad: A mix of greens, cherry tomatoes, and a light vinaigrette adds a light and fresh balance to the rich lasagna.
- Garlic bread: The crispy texture and buttery flavour complement the lasagna perfectly. You can make it from scratch or grab a pre-made pack for convenience.
- Wine pairing: A glass of medium-bodied red wine, like Chianti or Merlot, enhances the rich flavours of the lasagna beautifully.
Got Leftovers?!
Rarely happens to my lasagna, but when I am left with extra, I pack it in single portions and in air-tight container to last long and easy to reheat based on the portion.
- Fridge: upto 3 days
- Freezer: upto 3 months
- Reheat: If using the oven, bake at 375°F for 20–30 minutes. In Microwave oven, reheat for 2 minutes, covered with a damp paper towel or covered to retain moisture. If frozen, thaw first, then reheat.
Frequently Asked Questions — 4-Ingredient Layered Beef Lasagna Recipe
Can I prepare lasagna ahead of time?
Yes! Assemble, cover, and refrigerate or freeze. Bake when ready.
How can I make it healthier?
Use lean meat, part‑skim cheese, or add veggies like spinach or zucchini.
Why rest the lasagna before slicing?
It helps the layers set, giving you clean, beautiful slices. My family won’t care for clean slices, we always end up plating soon after it’s fresh off the oven.
