How It’s Made (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: Ingredients to Grab

  • Whole wheat flour
  • Hot water
  • Salt

Step 2: The Dough

  1. Use a stand-mixer or a bowl, mix flour and salt.
  2. Gradually pour in hot water while stirring.
  3. Knead on low speed to combine everything until soft and smooth.
  4. Cover and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into small individual portions.
  6. Flatten each into a disc and dust lightly with flour on both side.
  7. Roll gently from the center outward, turning the dough frequently to keep it round and even.

Step 3: The Chapati

  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Place a rolled chapati on the skillet—bubbles will form within 5–8 seconds.
  3. Flip and cook the other side for another 5 seconds.
  4. Optional: Hold it over an open flame or press gently with a spatula for extra crispiness.

  • Sambals
  • Scrambled eggs for breakfast wrap
  • Grilled or breaded meat
  • Hummus, avocado mash, or roasted veggies for a vegan option

Got Leftovers?

  • Fridge: Store in an airtight container for 1-2 days. After that, it starts losing flavor and texture.
